“The State of Rhode Island, like many states, requires that students demonstrate proficiency in the arts through the creation of a portfolio. The portfolio requirements are designed to make sure that every student leaves high school having met the Providence Visual Arts Standard (PVAS) and with a basic understanding of the arts. Artists and teachers created the criteria for the portfolio based on PVAS. This booklet is designed to help make sure that students meet the portfolio proficiency requirement.”
